What Exactly is a “Brand”?

What is a Brand?

Think of your brand as the personality of your event planning business. What does your business offer engaged couples that no other event business can?

Your brand should speak directly to your target client, making you the only choice for them.

You can buy a cup of coffee for a dollar or less at a convenience store. Why do so many people spend 3-5 times that much at Starbucks? Branding.

How Do I Figure Out My Brand?

To create a brand for your event business, don’t start with the logo. Instead, start by brainstorming what’s unique about what you do. Create a description of your business’ personality that shows why a potential client will choose you over other planners.

What is the message that you immediately want potential clients to know about your planning company?

Once you know what your business is about, you’ll have an effective starting point for making sure your services, logo, website, marketing materials, social media posts, and advertising all fit with your brand identity (personality).

How Do I Use My Brand?

Once you determine your brand identity, it’s important to keep everything cohesive and consistent with your brand. Don’t use one font for your business name on your website, another on your blog, and yet another font on your business cards. Choose a set of fonts, colors, and graphics to be used on all of your marketing materials, and make sure your design choices reflect your brand’s personality.

If you don’t have the budget to do a full rebrand, consider ways you can revitalize your current brand such as updating your portfolio on your website, carefully reviewing your website copy, and updating your headshots for your About page.

A distinct brand makes it hard for anyone to compete with you. When your brand is on target and attracting your ideal clients, leads and bookings will come more easily than if your business has a generic feel and no distinct style or personality.
