8 Ways to Appreciate Your Wedding Clients as a Planner

Going above and beyond to show your clients how much you appreciate them will set you apart and make your clients absolutely love working with you and your team. By creating a memorable and thoughtful experience for your wedding couples, you will see long term benefits such as genuine testimonials, life-long referrals, and true connections with your clients.

Here are 8 ways to show appreciation for your wedding couples:

1) Check in for no reason

Clients like to talk about their wedding and there is no better audience than their planner. They’ll be happy you care, you’ll get to know each other better, the trust will grow, and you’ll likely get tidbits of information that will help you serve them better once their wedding day comes along. It’s nice to have calls, emails, or coffees without an agenda, homework, or action items.

2) Exceed their expectations at every opportunity

Give yourself more time than you think you will need for planning each wedding. This allows you to meet all deadlines with time to spare even when life gets in the way. It also helps you not to feel resentful if the wedding couple is high maintenance.

3) Structure services that allow you to be generous with your time and services

Offer to attend catering and cake tastings, hair and makeup trials, final gown fittings, and run an occasional wedding-related errand. This all goes a long way in the minds and hearts of the client, creating deep appreciation, loyalty, and glowing testimonials.

4) When working with new vendors, connect with them in advance

Your wedding clients may have booked some event professionals on their own prior to hiring you. Reach out to their vendors to introduce yourself as soon as you are hired. Your clients will appreciate the rapport and comfort you built with their selected vendors on the wedding day.

5) Provide last-minute help

Offer to help with last-minute wedding day transportation confirmations or ordering food for the wedding party while they get hair and makeup done. These are often two final pieces to their wedding day puzzle and by this time in the planning process, they are likely tired of planning. If they could entrust these items to you– they’ll be grateful and you’ll be a hero.

6) Arrange deliveries

Depending on how you structure your wedding planner services and prices, consider offering to pick up all the personal items from their home and deliver them to the venue and return them after the reception. These are items such as place cards, table numbers, guest book, and favors.

7) Play some tunes

If you know your clients well enough from the planning process, create and share playlists for wedding planning, getting ready, and wedding day travel. They will appreciate the gesture and enjoy the ready-made music lists.

8) Surprise them!

Surprise clients with small gifts when they sign your wedding planner contract, during the planning process, and on the wedding day. This Love Story Journal is one of my favorite client gifts to give. Notecube and WeConcile are also great wedding day gifts for your couples.

Not only will these ideas make your clients feel appreciated, but they also become part of your marketing plan by providing an ideal client experience that makes them want to refer you to friends and family for years to come.
